Because DNS relies on caching to stay fast, changes don't appear everywhere instantly. Internet service providers and resolvers each cache records for a period defined by the TTL (time to live) value.
Typical propagation can take anywhere from a few minutes to 48 hours, depending on your previous TTL settings and how widely cached your old records were.
